Eating in Pescara

Pescara is Abruzzo's sea city, and it eats Adriatic fish with mountain cooking at its back.

From the sea

Brodetto alla pescarese is made with peppers — sweet and hot — and oily fish, served with toasted bread. Scapece from Vasto, mussels, cuttlefish with peas and fried fish complete the coastal menu.

From the mountains

Arrosticini come down from inland and are eaten everywhere, including on the seafront; pasta alla chitarra and pallotte cace e ove — bread and cheese balls with no meat — are at home here.

The sweet

Parrozzo was created in Pescara in 1920: an almond and semolina sponge covered in chocolate, modelled on the peasants' rough bread. D'Annunzio wrote verses for it, and the box still prints them.

In the glass

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Cerasuolo, and Pecorino (the grape) from the Pescara hills.

Opening hours and closing days change. The ones on the listings come from public sources and may be out of date. Where a restaurant confirms tables with us, the availability you see is the real one.
