Eating in Pordenone

Pordenone looks towards the Veneto and eats like Friuli, with a speciality that comes down from the valleys above the town.

The pitina

Pitina IGP is a patty of mutton, goat or game meat, rolled in maize flour and smoked over the hearth. It was born in the Val Tramontina as a way of keeping meat, and is eaten raw in slices or cooked in vinegar with polenta.

The dishes

  • Frico, crisp or soft, made with Montasio DOP;
  • Musetto e brovada in winter;
  • Plum gnocchi, sweet and savoury at once, carried over from Austria;
  • Barley and bean soup, called orzotto when made dry.

In the glass

Friuli Grave DOC is the region's largest denomination and begins around the town: Merlot, Cabernet, Friulano and Pinot Grigio.

Opening hours and closing days change. The ones on the listings come from public sources and may be out of date. Where a restaurant confirms tables with us, the availability you see is the real one.
