Instant confirmation or on request: what actually changes
On the same page, two restaurants can behave in two different ways. The difference isn’t cosmetic: it’s whether the table is yours or not.

Where the listings come from, and why they’re sometimes wrong
No restaurateur asked to be here. That’s why the catalogue is broad, and it’s also why it goes stale.

«All verified»: what it means, and what it doesn’t
Here a review is tied to a meal that took place. It is an inconvenient rule — it shuts a lot of people out — and everything that «all verified» can promise lives inside it.

Eating in Reggio di Calabria
Reggio looks at Sicily from three kilometres away, and the Strait has been fished for millennia with a technique that has changed little.
The swordfish
It is caught from April to July with the passerelle, boats with towering masts and long prows. It is eaten alla bagnarese (sliced, with oil, lemon, capers and oregano), a ghiotta with tomato, capers and olives, or rolled and stuffed.
The bergamot
Bergamotto di Reggio Calabria DOP grows almost nowhere else, along a hundred kilometres of coast. It gives the essence used in perfume, but it is cooked with too: in desserts, over raw fish, in liqueur.
The dishes
- Macaroni with goat ragù, the feast-day first course of the Aspromonte;
- Stocco alla mammolese, stockfish cooked with potatoes and peppers;
- 'Nduja spread on bread, from nearby Spilinga;
- Aubergine parmigiana and aubergine polpette.
In the glass
Greco di Bianco DOC is an ancient sweet wine of the Ionian coast; in red, Gaglioppo and Magliocco.
Opening hours and closing days change. The ones on the listings come from public sources and may be out of date. Where a restaurant confirms tables with us, the availability you see is the real one.
