Restaurants in the province of Lodi

Lodi is small and entirely agricultural: milk, rice, pork. It is one of the places where Grana Padano was born, and the cooking makes no claim to lightness.

What you eat here

• Raspadüra — young Grana Padano shaved into gossamer sheets with a blade and served as it is. The Lodi speciality.
• Risotto with sausage or with frogs.
• Pumpkin tortelli and cotechino with lentils.
• Pannerone di Lodi, a rare unsalted cheese, sweet and bitter at once.
• Tortionata, a dry almond-and-butter cake.

The wine

The province has no vineyards to speak of: people drink Oltrepò Pavese, half an hour away, and a fizzy Bonarda works with raspadüra.
