Eating in Asti
Asti sits in the middle of the Monferrato, with two wines known everywhere and a hill kitchen.
The dishes
- Asti agnolotti, larger than the plin, with roasting juices;
- Bagna càuda, which in this province has its own festival and its own "proper" recipe;
- Finanziera and bollito misto with its seven sauces;
- Carmagnola peppers and the cardo gobbo of Nizza Monferrato, eaten raw in the bagna càuda.
The cheese
Robiola di Roccaverano DOP is a fresh goat cheese, and the only goat DOP in northern Italy.

Asti DOCG and Moscato d'Asti DOCG among the sweet wines, Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Nizza DOCG and Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG among the reds. The hills have been a UNESCO site since 2014.
