Eating in Barletta

Barletta is one of the three capitals of the province it shares with Andria and Trani, between the Murgia and the sea.

The burrata

Burrata di Andria IGP is made a few kilometres away: a pouch of spun curd holding stracciatella and cream. It is eaten the same day, at room temperature, on its own.

The dishes

  • Orecchiette with turnip tops and cavatelli with pulses;
  • Focaccia and onion calzone, made with sponsale onions;
  • Adriatic fish from the harbour: anchovies, octopus, cuttlefish;
  • Fave e cicorie with new oil.

The oil and the salt

Olio Terra di Bari DOP comes from the Murgia groves; the saltworks of Margherita di Savoia, in this province, are the largest in Europe.

In the glass

Moscato di Trani DOC, sweet and ancient, and Castel del Monte DOCG from Nero di Troia, named after Frederick II's castle.

Opening hours and closing days change. The ones on the listings come from public sources and may be out of date. Where a restaurant confirms tables with us, the availability you see is the real one.
